City Information
The city of Jaipur was established by the Kachhwaha King, Sawai Jai Singh, and was given the name Jaipur, the City of Victory. Built between 1727 AD and 1731 AD, Jaipur was the first planned city in India. The city is built using the architectural principles mentioned in the Shilpa Shastra, the ancient Indian treatise on architecture. Jaipur is full of interesting places to visit most of which are of historical importance. Visit the Amber Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, City Palace and Museum, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Central Museum, Jaipur Museum, Albert Museum, Birla Mandir Planetarium, Sisodia Rani Park, Lakshmi Narain Temple, Rajmahal Palace, Rambagh Palace, Ram Niwas Bagh and Govind Devji Temple. One can also go on a day trip to visit Galtaji, Kanak Vrindavan and Chokhi Dhani and on excursion tours to Ajmer and Pushkar.
