There are several places worth visiting on your trip to Chennai. There are the thirteen kilometers of marvelous Marina beach that wears a festive looks on weekend evenings. The state secretariat of the St. George Forte is a splendid building. Do not miss the variety of British and French antiques and other commemorations in its museum and the first English church in Chennai- St Mary’s Church. The 8th century Parthasarthi temple of the Pallavs dedicated to Lord Krishna and the Kapaleeswarar Temple of Lord Shiva are worth more than a visit. For the nature and animal lovers there are the Guindy National Park and the Snake Park. The list of landmarks in Chennai includes the Santhome Cathedral, Birla Planetarium, Elliot Beach, Valluvar Kottam, National Art and Government Museum, Anna Zoological Park, Kalakshetra and the Theosophical Society. Close to the city of Chennai are the port city of the Pallavas, Mamallapuram or Mahabalipuram, the crocodile bank, Covelong beach, Muttukkadu, Thirukkalukundram, Vedathangal bird sanctuary may be checked out.
